A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

The story Only the Pretty Ones (Angry Girl Crime Stories Book 1) by Karen M. Bryson is a suspenseful crime thriller. This is a story that is fast-paced and has a lot to twists in it. You are taken on a ride in which I felt like I needed a seat belt. It is the first book in the Angry Girl Crime Stories which is a series of stories that interconnect. The stories can be read as a standalone or as part of the series. It is the first book I have read by the author and it will not be the last. She writes an amazing story with larger than life characters. This is the story of Maxie Ford’s journey to find her sister who has been abducted from a club. She enlists the help of a drug dealer, “Micky Finn” Donovan. She gets sucked into a world that is highly dangerous. She also unexpectedly begins to trust Donovan. What lengths is Maxie willing to go to in order to get her sister back? Who is really is “Micky Finn” Donovan and why is he so willing to help Maxie? Will Maxie act on her feelings for Finn?
This book shows the true meaning of love for family and also the ability to overcome past situations to move forward with your life. Maxie’s story is a hard one to read. There have been situations that happened in her past that has left her with scars and she gets by living day to day. I felt the worry and panic that Maxie felt when she first couldn’t find her sister and then found that she had been taken. Maxie does try to involve the police however she doesn’t hold them in high esteem and they are not very helpful. That is when Maxie meets and gets the help of “Micky Finn” Donovan. I had to smile when Maxie first meets Finn as she doesn’t hold back on her emotions and even seems to challenge him. As the story progresses she opens up to Finn and seems to feel a connection between them. Is Maxie falling for Finn? As their search for Maxie’s sister continues, a story begins to emerge that is both shocking and dangerous. Dangerous characters show themselves and threaten everyone’s safety. Who will be left standing?
“Micky Finn” Donovan is a man that gets what he wants and protects what is his. When Maxie walked through his door he knew he wanted her. He agrees to help Maxie and is very protective of her. In just a short period of time, he seems to be able to pull down some of the walls that Maxie has built around her. He is also a dangerous man and anyone should beware if they try to hurt Maxie. Will Finn be able to find Maxie’s sister? Will Finn convince Maxie that she is the one for him?
I started reading this book and found myself not able to put it down until I had finished. I got so involved in the plot that I read it all in one afternoon. This story does include descriptions of events that include violence and some subjects that are very sensitive. It also includes adult situations. That would make this a book for those 18 years of age or older.
This was an intense read and isn't for everyone. I really enjoy this author's writing. I liked the main character. I liked that she wanted justice for her sister. I wasn't so sure about all her decisions etc but she was a pretty kick ass character. I want to read more books in this series and more by this author. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre.
Only The Pretty Ones is the first book in the Angry Girl Crime Stories series. It can be read as a standalone or part of the series. This is my first book by Karen M Bryson. I absolutely enjoyed every second of reading this book! It's full of drama, romance, and is dark and suspenseful. It took me on a roller coaster ride of twists and turns. The story is very well written and the characters are relatable and real. I was sucked in from the beginning and the story wouldn't let me go! I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
